A life's story should be written by the heart and not the head; actions performed on a whim excite more than those executed to a plan. In between the boring but necessary bits, my life's story sees me working on a German pig farm, taking the midnight bus across Turkey, falling in love, sitting atop mountains, dining in Mehanas, walking a Norfolk beach with more seals than people, watching from street cafes as thousands of lives go by. My poems too are written from the heart, but that heart can be fragile: many of these poems reflect that fragility.
Richard was born and brought up in South Wales before moving to Llandrindod in Mid-Wales during his teens. After leaving school, Richard worked on a farm for a year and then for a few years as a decorator and carrying out general building jobs. Richard moved to Yorkshire, gaining a degree at Leeds Polytechnic, and has since worked in construction. Richard, and his wife Julie, are currently enjoying life living just outside York; they have one daughter.
