Dawn Treacher

Dawn loves sewing and designing creatures from plush materials. This love of creating creatures turned to socks four years ago when she discovered they were the perfect medium for sewing creatures.

This love of socks led to the birth of Treacher Creatures and an Etsy shop. She designs creatures from re-cycled wool sweaters and fleece: she started crocheting Amigurumi creatures to find that what she really loved was combining all these materials to create individual one of a kind soft sculptures, each with their own individual personality.

Dawn trained in children’s book illustration with the London Art College, and studied creative writing for children. Painting, writing and crafting have all sparked the desire to create characters who stories she wants to tell. Dawn was commissioned in 2016 to do the cover artwork for a children’s historical novel, “Beast on the Broch”, by F.K.Fulton, and has illustrated a picture book, “Miss Pickle, a Dizzy Witch.”

Mouse Pirate is her first picture book, for which she is author and illustrator. Dawn is currently working on the sequel to Mouse Pirate. Mouse Pirate has also allowed me to combine all my passions with designing and making creatures from all manner of plush materials and yarn.
