Gary Allen was born in Ballymena, Co. Antrim. After studying engineering he left college, travelled and worked throughout mainland Europe doing various jobs – grape picking and scrap metal sorting in France, cleaning and factory work in Holland, Belgium, and Germany, before settling in Holland for several years, and returning home where he started to write – poetry and novels – full time. He has published sixteen collections of poetry, three novels, and a collection of short stories in Ireland, UK, USA, and Canada, as well as being included in many international and important anthologies. Widely published in top literary magazines throughout Ireland, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand. His work has been broadcast on radio, reviewed extensively in the press, and undergone critical assessment.
