Terry Simpson’s skewering of the NHS’ mental health provision is formally launched at the Leeds 2022 Literature Festival at the Hyde Park Book Club on Saturday 5th of March at 3pm.

Bookings for the event, which is free, can be made on the Lit Fest web site or directly on the EventBrite Booking Page.

Luke, the new Patients’ Advocate at Needleham, watches the filleting of the mental health system, noting the shabby, bleak aspect of the hospital where ‘coffee-coloured’ drinks are swallowed down and ‘carpeted areas of deserted arm chairs’ abound. Terry Simpson breathes new life into comedy staples. Dark, sharp and laugh out loud funny.

Reviewers one liners include:

‘Kafka’s The Castle meets One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest
One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’meets Fawlty Towers

And in the words of Professor Helen Spandler, Editor of Asylum: the radical mental health magazine:
“At last! I’ve been waiting a long time for a book like this. A witty, astute and poignant satire on the mental health system. Highly recommended”.
