Harry Gallagher’s book Northern Lights has been shortlisted by the Poetry Book Awards for 2021. This is well deserved recognition for Harry who is by far the most indomitable of our poetry authors and whose book by far outsells any of our poetry offerings. The book documents the horror and despair of a region that has been devastated by the dismantling of Britain’s heavy industries and the little effort made to rebuild and reenergise the Tyne Tees.
