C.S. Fuqua has been writing most of his life, but, to survive, he’s worked as a newspaper reporter, magazine editor, book editor, English tutor, substitute teacher, janitor, respiratory therapy technician, gas station attendant (when such things existed), salesclerk, musician in a Mexican restaurant, writing instructor, and more. Chris earned a bachelor’s in communication arts/journalism from University of West Florida where he learned journalism before 24/7 cable TV and internet “news” sites annihilated journalistic ethics, responsibility, and professionalism. After a few stints as a daily and weekly newspaper reporter, Chris moved to Hawaii where he served as a magazine writer/photographer, both on-staff and freelance, until he moved back to the Mainland in 1986. In the late-1980s, he turned to full-time freelance writing, specializing initially in nonfiction before transitioning primarily to fiction and poetry.

Chris began crafting Native American style flutes in the early 1990s and producing music professionally in the early 2000s, including the WindPoem series that features Native American flute meditations and world fusion/jazz compositions. His music is available for purchase and licensing. Visit the WindPoem music page for more information.
