Lorraine White

Lorraine White was born in Cumbria but for the past eighteen years she has lived and worked in Greater Manchester. Her love of animals dominates much of her life. She spends a day each week helping abandoned or otherwise homeless dogs, and her journeys around the world have included a week spent in a wolf reserve in Oregon and a period living and working in a sanctuary for abused and injured elephants in Thailand. The demands of her pet Yorkshire terrier, Charlie, have curtailed her enjoyment of travel, but to compensate for this she learned to fly light aircraft and holds a pilot's licence, so she can survey her native country from among the clouds.
Her profession has led to a series of adventures and misadventures ranging from the hilarious to the distressing, and she recounts them with wit and honesty. She has appeared in a Channel Five television documentary. Mistress is her first book.
