Tanya Nightingale

Tanya believes poetry should turn people inside out. She won the Yorkshire Open Poetry Competition in 2008 and the Ryedale Poetry Competition in 2013. Her work has appeared in many anthologies and in literary journals including Orbis, Acumen, The Slab, London Grip, York 800, Other Poetry and Dream Catcher Magazine, where she was Reviews Editor for five years. Tanya performs regularly in her home town of York, featuring in International Women's Week in 2009, 2010 and 2020 with Real People Theatre. She has performed at the Leeds Lieder, the Edinburgh Fringe and the Keats-Shelley House in Rome. Her first full length poetry collection, published by Stairwell Books, appeared in September 2015. Recently she joined the Love the Words broadcasting team at Chapel (East Leeds) FM. Tanya reviews events for York Mix magazine and is working on a new poetry collection.
